The Bulgarian women's national volleyball team under 19 became world champions! Atanas Petrov's students closed the final in Osijek with a 3:1 game (21:25, 25:16, 25:17, 29:27). The same selection of our country also became European champion exactly one year ago.
The match went through highs and lows for both teams, which had strong and weak moments in the match. The Americans started with success in the first game, when they prevailed with 25:21, and they had a solid lead even at 6:1. The biggest lead was in the decisive phase with 21:13. The difference decreased to 17:21, but in the end the symbolic hosts did their job.
Two strong parts of Bulgaria followed. In the second game, a seven-point lead for the “Lionesses” was formed at 14:7, and nine points was the difference at 23:14 and 25:16 subsequently. The third game was also very convincing for our girls, and 6 points was the lead at 8:2. The Bulgarians created a maximum lead at 24:12, but closed the game only at 25:17.
The most dramatic was the fourth game, when the teams played point for point most of the time. Bulgaria took a three-point lead at 7:4. However, an unconvincing series followed and the USA turned it around to 13:10. The “Lionesses” did not break and respected with six consecutive points to 20:14. |BGNES
