World number 1 Janik Sinner achieved a decisive victory over Aleksandar Vukic with 6:1, 6:1, 6:3 to qualify for the third round of the tournament. The Italian completely dominated the first two sets, leaving his opponent with no particular chances. The most interesting part came only in the final part of the match.
In the fifth game of the third set, Vukic missed two break opportunities, and in the final game, Sinner failed to convert five match points. In the end, however, he showed composure and, after saving a break point with an impressive shot, managed to close the match on his sixth match point.
The Italian stressed that every match in the tournament is a test and no opponent should be underestimated:
"We have already seen many surprises. If Vukic had broken through, the match could have gone in a completely different direction. Fortunately, I managed to escape at the crucial moment. I played well, but I know there is still room for improvement. In the next round, I have a tough match against Pedro Martinez," said Siner. | BGNES
