Greece prepares for a gradual rise in temperatures

In some areas, the mercury could reach 38 degrees Celsius on June 6 and 7.

Temperatures in Greece will rise steadily during the first week of June. Meteorologists are forecasting a significant but manageable heatwave, fueled by air masses from North Africa.

“This is not a heatwave,” said meteorologist Janis Kalliános, describing the phenomenon as a mild warm front that is not expected to bring the Saharan dust that often accompanies such phenomena.

Temperatures are expected to rise daily, with peak values reaching the end of the week, Kathimerini reported.

In some areas, the mercury could reach 38 degrees Celsius on June 6 and 7, Kalliános said. He noted that local deviations from the forecast are still possible.

Although such heat waves in early summer are typical for the region, authorities advise residents to stay hydrated and limit their exposure to the sun during peak hours. | BGNES
