Poland has no plans to sever diplomatic relations with Russia

Poland shot down several Russian drones, becoming the first NATO country to confront Moscow's military assets over its own territory since the start of the full-scale war.

"Poland currently has no plans to sever diplomatic relations with Russia."

This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski during a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Sibiha in Kyiv, according to the Kyiv Independent.

Sikorski's statement comes days after Russian drones entered Polish airspace during a large-scale attack on Ukraine on September 10. Poland shot down several Russian drones, becoming the first NATO country to confront Moscow's military assets over its own territory since the start of the full-scale war.

Sikorski said Poland saw no reason to sever diplomatic ties with Russia. He noted that Warsaw had already restricted the activities of Russian diplomats in several regions and called on European partners to reduce the size of Russian diplomatic missions in their countries.

The Polish minister called the latest incursion of Russian drones into Polish airspace a "moment of truth." He emphasized that the drones entered from Belarus and flew for seven hours.

"Anyone who claims that these were Ukrainian drones is repeating Russian propaganda," Sikorski said.

The top Polish diplomat promised to expand military cooperation with Ukraine amid intense Russian attacks, noting that Warsaw is ready to provide €40 million in support.

Sibiha stated that Ukraine is prepared to assist Poland in addressing Russian threats.

"Ukraine has already successfully repelled attacks. We must work on a joint system to counter drones," he added. | BGNES
