Actress Sidney Sweeney stars in the upcoming film Christie, a biopic about boxer Christie Martin.

The film, written and directed by David Michôd, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival ahead of its official release on November 7, Far Out Magazine reported.

The cast also includes Ben Foster, Merritt Wever, Katie O'Brien, Ethan Embry, Jess Gabor, Chad Coleman, Brian Hibbard, Tony Cavallero, and Gilbert Cruz.

The film "Christy" tells the story of how Martin manages to establish herself in the harsh world of boxing after leaving her small town in West Virginia. Her successes in the ring are only part of her story. She survived an abusive marriage, and her husband was convicted after attempting to kill her in 2010. Martin also struggled with addiction issues during her marriage.

Ben Foster plays Jim, Christie Martin's coach and later husband. In the trailer, set to Stevie Nicks' song "Edge of Seventeen," he tells Christie:

"If you leave me, I'll kill you."

In June, Sydney Sweeney explained how she changed her physique for the role:

"I came to play Christie and had about three and a half months of training. I started eating more. I trained with weights for an hour in the morning, did kickboxing for about two hours in the afternoon, and then weights again for an hour in the evening."

At the premiere in Toronto, the star shared her thoughts on the film:

"The boxer Christie was a personality—very pompous and egocentric, but that's not me. I'm very shy and reserved. I have these two different sides to my personality, and I think that's why Sydney Sweeney does such a great job." | BGNES
