Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have split. The couple got engaged in October last year after a four-year relationship, but have made a "mutual decision" to separate.

"It was a mutual decision and it wasn't easy, but it was made with love and deep respect for each other," a source told People magazine.

"It was a mutual decision and it wasn't easy, but it was made with love and deep respect for each other," a source told People magazine.

The two were last seen together, holding hands, in Los Angeles on August 31, but on September 7, the 36-year-old actress appeared on the red carpet at the premiere of "Eternity" in Los Angeles without her engagement ring.

She also removed the post about her engagement from her Instagram highlights for the first time since Sean's proposal.

Just a few months ago, White talked about how "excited" he and Nina were to plan their wedding.

"It's very exciting to have new aspirations and new things to strive for together. It's very humbling and exciting, and she's excited too. We've gotten a lot of advice from different people who have planned their own weddings and other things. So we're definitely gathering information and now trying to see what will work best for us in some way," he told People.

Sean said it's "fun" to plan the "next chapter" of their lives as a couple.

"It's like you've taken the next step, and yeah, it's just a fun phase of life planning. What are the next steps, the next chapter, and where do we want to be? It's fun. It's fun to have someone to plan all of that with," the former Olympian explained.

Nina previously revealed to Vogue magazine that they got engaged in New York at the end of October and that she "froze" when Sean proposed.

Recalling the proposal, she admitted, "I was in shock. I just froze and looked at him."

After the initial surprise, Dobrev quickly became excited. "He said everything right," she said. | BGNES
