We condemn the violation of airspace, which we consider unprovoked, while at the same time reaffirming the Alliance’s determination to take all necessary measures.
This was stated by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov to journalists, after multiple Russian drones breached Polish airspace, followed by a request for the activation of Article 4 of the NATO Treaty.
Zhelyazkov clarified that, as of today, no high-level meeting has been scheduled, BGNES correspondent from Blagoevgrad reported, where the Prime Minister made his statement.
We regard this as an absolutely unnecessary provocation, which does nothing to ease tensions between Russia and the EU on the one hand, and on the other, provides ever more arguments that Europe needs robust security guarantees, in order to make clear that the Alliance possesses the required defensive readiness to deter and counter any attempts at aggression.
At present, there are no grounds for invoking Article 5, Zhelyazkov further stated. | BGNES
