FBI Recovers Weapon Used in Charlie Kirk’s Killing

Officials confirmed they have obtained images of the suspect and are actively searching for the individual responsible.

The FBI has recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the killing of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, though investigators have not yet identified the shooter. Officials confirmed they have obtained images of the suspect and are actively searching for the individual responsible.

“We have seized what we believe to be the weapon used in yesterday’s shooting. It’s a high-powered bolt-action rifle,” FBI Special Agent Robert Bowles said during a media briefing. He added that investigators also “have images of the suspect.”
Bowles stressed that the FBI is “doing everything possible” to locate the perpetrator:

“We don’t yet know how far he may have gotten, but we will find him — we are putting in maximum effort.”
Charlie Kirk, 31, a prominent conservative podcaster and leading figure among pro-Trump youth, was fatally shot in the neck while speaking before an audience of about 3,000 people at an event focused on “America’s Renewal.” The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump reacted strongly in a video posted on his platform Truth Social, saying:

“For years, the radical left has compared great Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the worst criminals and mass murderers in the world. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism we face today in our country, and it must stop immediately.” | BGNES, AFP
