Doncic's double-double not enough as Germany beat Slovenia to reach EuroBasket semi-finals

The world champions will play next Finland.

Germany is the last semi-finalist in this year's EuroBasket 2025. The world champions defeated Slovenia with Luka Doncic in the lineup 99:91 in Riga and will face the tournament's pleasant surprise Finland.

In the Latvian capital, the Germans were trailing by 13 points at one point by the Slovenians, but a strong final quarter, won 29:17, ultimately sent them into the last four.

Franz Wagner topped the winners with 23 points. The Orlando Magic basketball player scored a key basket from mid-range and won a defensive rebound late in the game to end Slovenia's hopes. Dennis Schroder finished with 20 points, and Daniel Theis, Maodo Lo and Andreas Obst also crossed the double-digit mark for the Germans.

For the Slovenians, Dončić once again gave his all, finishing with a double-double - 39 points and 10 rebounds, adding 7 assists. It is curious that earlier in the tournament the LA Lakers star scored the same number of points against France, but his team was again on the losing side. Dončić did not receive enough help from his teammates, with only two of them scoring 10 or more points - Klemen Prepelić (13) and Gregor Hrovat (11).

Greece and Turkey will face each other in the other semi-final. Both semi-finals in Riga are on Friday. | BGNES
