Tom Holland: The script for "The Odyssey" is the best I've ever seen

Holland plays Telemachus, the son of the hero Odysseus and a key figure in the ancient Greek saga.

After "The Odyssey" and the new "Spider-Man" movie, next summer looks set to be Tom Holland's summer – and the actor, known for his boyish energy, can barely contain his excitement, AFP reports.

First to hit the screens will be Christopher Nolan's epic adaptation of "The Odyssey," expected in mid-July. Holland plays Telemachus, the son of the hero Odysseus and a key figure in the ancient Greek saga.

"The script is the best I've ever read," Holland said after recently completing filming in various locations around the Mediterranean.

The film is Nolan's next project after "Oppenheimer" and once again features an all-star cast, including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron — and Holland's fiancée, Zendaya.

"He (Nolan) knows what he wants, but it's not an environment where you can't offer ideas or develop characters in certain ways," Holland enthuses.

The two Brits have not worked together before, but they have a lot in common. Nolan directed The Dark Knight trilogy, and his Batman films are among the most successful and beloved productions in the superhero genre, along with Holland's Spider-Man films.

A few days before his interview with AFP, photos showed Holland during an action scene for Spider-Man: A New Day in Glasgow, with the Scottish city replacing New York.

The film is expected in theaters in late July, just two weeks after "The Odyssey." | BGNES
