Oscar-nominated actor Ryan Gosling is taking on a huge new franchise: the "Star Wars" universe, after reprising the role of Ken in the hit "Barbie" movie in 2023,
Gosling will star in the upcoming "Star Wars: A Starfighter" movie, which is due to hit the screen in May 2027, it was revealed at the Star Wars Celebration event in Japan.
The film, to be directed by Sean Levy, will be set five years after the events of 2019's "Star Wars: Episode IX -- Rise of the Skywalker."
Fans rejoiced when Gosling and Levy made a surprise appearance at the event in Japan to confirm their involvement with the project, which will begin filming later this year.
Gosling will play a brand new character in the Star Wars universe.
