Manchester City beat Manchester United 3:0 at home in another derby between the two teams in the fourth round of the English Premier League.
The match started evenly at the Etihad, with the hosts enjoying more possession. This paid off in the 18th minute, when Jeremy Doku surprised the Red Devils' defence with a dribble from the right side, crossed into the penalty area and there Phil Foden made Altay Bayindir helpless with a header. On the other side, the new addition to the Citizens Gianluigi Donnarumma started for the first time and made two saves before the break after shots by Benjamin Sesko.
After the break, the mistakes in the ranks of the visiting team became more frequent and City did not miss to punish them. First, Erling Haaland broke free from Luke Shaw's protection after a pass from Doku and kicked the ball over Bayindir, who had come out to meet him, for 2:0. Pep Guardiola's team gave United the initiative, with Donnarumma showing his skill in a great volley from Bryan Mbeumo. However, the visitors' passing of the ball remained uncertain and after another mistake, Haaland escaped from the offside position and remained face to face with Bayindir, overcoming him with ease for 3:0 after 68 minutes of play. Mbeumo and Casemiro, who came off the bench, missed opportunities for United afterwards. The score remained unchanged until the end, and City ended their negative series of two consecutive losses in the Premier League.
Guardiola and company are in eighth position with six points, while United suffered a second defeat and are 14th, two points less. In the next round, the Red Devils host Chelsea, while City are away to Arsenal. | BGNES
