Two-time world boxing champion found dead

England treating his death as 'suspicious'

Former two-time world champion Ricky Hatton has been found dead at his home in Manchester. A police report says "there are currently no suspicious circumstances" surrounding his death. He was just 46 years old.

Hatton won the IBF super lightweight world title in 2005 when he defeated future Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu by knockout in the 11th round.

A year later, he won the WBA lightweight title against Luis Collazo in 2006. Hatton has faced some of the best boxers of his generation, including Kostya Tszyu, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

After the loss to Pacquiao, Hatton retired from the sport, returning to face Vyacheslav Senchenko in late 2012. He was leading on points at the time, but was stopped by a punch to the stomach in the ninth round. Hatton announced his retirement after that fight, saying he needed "one more fight" to see if he still had the stamina for the ring.

"The Hitman" was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in the class of 2024. His record was 45-3 (32 knockouts). |BGNES
