Germany win second EuroBasket title after dramatic victory over Turkey

The bronze medals went to Greece who beat Finland 92:89.

Germany celebrated their second European basketball title in history after a dramatic 88:83 victory over Turkey in the final in the Latvian capital Riga.

The world champions trailed by six points at halftime, but a strong performance in the second half brought them the victory. Dennis Schröder, who was named MVP of the final, had several key plays at the end of the game. He finished with 16 points, 3 rebounds and 12 assists. Isaac Bonga scored 20 points, while Franz Wagner finished with 18.

For the Turks, Alperen Şengün and Çedi Osman combined for a total of 51 points, but that was not enough for Bulgaria's southern neighbors. Şengün missed a field goal attempt and then forced a three-pointer. Thus, Turkey remains without a European title, losing its second final ever after the one in 2001.

The Germans added a second gold after that in 1993, when they triumphed at home after a win over Russia.
