Barcelona have officially announced the signing of Marcus Rashford, who will become the second Englishman to play for the Catalans. Until now, the only other Englishman to play for the team at Camp Nou was Gary Lineker (1986-1989).

Rashford will play on loan from Manchester United until June 30, 2026.

The Catalans specify that the contract between the two clubs has a clause that allows them to buy the striker's rights.

Rashford signed his contract with Barcelona at a private ceremony attended by club president Joan Laporta, the sporting director and other members of the board of directors.

The 27-year-old striker chose the iconic number 14, which has been worn by legends such as Johan Cruyff and Thierry Henry in the club's history.

Rashford has already worn this number during his time at Manchester United, and has subsequently played with 19 and 10.

The number 14 was vacated by Pablo Torre, who moved to Mallorca, while the number 19 was vacated by Lamine Yamal, who will wear the number 10 in the new season. | BGNES
